Installing and managing apps
Apps add features to your SitePack site, from SEO helpers and live chat to connectors that sync your orders or products with another system such as a point-of-sale (POS) or bookkeeping tool. This page explains how to install an app, what you are agreeing to when you approve it, and how to remove one later.
Two ways to install an app
From the marketplace. In your admin, open Marketplace → Apps, find the app you want and select Install. You are taken to the approval screen for your current site.
From an install link. Some apps are installed from the other product first. For example, in your POS system you click "Connect SitePack". That link sends you to SitePack, where you sign in (if you are not already) and land on the same approval screen. This is how you connect an external tool to your site.
Either way, the app is only connected once you approve it on the screen described below.
The approval screen
Before an app gets any access, SitePack shows you exactly what it is asking for:
- Which site. If you manage more than one site, pick the site you want to install the app on. When you arrive from a marketplace Install button, this is already set to the site you are working on.
- What the app can do. The permissions the app requests are listed in plain language, grouped by area (for example "Read products, variants, images and bundles"). Anything that could spend money on your behalf, such as ordering a domain, is highlighted separately. An app can never be granted more than it asks for here.
- The price, for paid apps. If the app has a paid plan, its price is shown and you must tick to agree to the charge before you can continue. See Paid apps below.
Select Approve & continue to install the app, or Deny to cancel and go back. Approving sends you back to the app so it can finish setting itself up.
Paid apps
Most apps are free. Some charge a monthly or yearly fee, shown on the approval screen. When you approve a paid app:
- If the app offers both a monthly and a yearly price, you choose which one you want.
- You flip a toggle to confirm you agree to the recurring charge. The app cannot be installed until you do.
- SitePack adds it to your subscription and invoices it to the payment method already on file. You do not enter card details in the app.
- The charge appears on your regular SitePack invoice alongside your other subscriptions.
If you remove the app, its subscription is cancelled and you are no longer billed for it.
Managing or removing an app
Your installed apps live under Apps (or the app's own settings page) in the admin. From there you can open an app's settings or remove it. Removing an app immediately stops its access to your site and cancels any paid subscription for it. You can install it again later; you will simply pass through the approval screen once more.
If an app ever asks for access you did not expect, deny it and remove it from your site. You are always in control of which apps can reach your data and what they may do with it.
