Redirects & SEO

Maintain your search engine rankings and ensure visitors never land on a broken link.

Creating URL Redirects

When you change a page's URL or delete old content, it's important to set up a redirect.

  1. Go to Content -> Redirects.
  2. Click Create Redirect.
  3. Old Slug: Enter the previous URL path (e.g., old-product-name).
  4. New Slug: Enter the new internal path (e.g., new-product-name) or a full external URL.
  5. Redirect Type:
    • 301 (Permanent): Best for SEO. Tells search engines the page has moved permanently.
    • 302 (Temporary): Use if the move is only for a short period.
  6. Hits Tracking: SitePack tracks how many times each redirect has been used, helping you identify active traffic paths.

SEO Best Practices in SitePack

  • Meta Titles & Descriptions: Edit these within the individual page editor to control how your site appears in search results.
  • Search Engine Visibility: If your site is still under construction, you can "Block Search Engines" in Settings -> General to prevent unfinished pages from being indexed.
  • Clean URLs: Use short, descriptive slugs for your pages and products to improve readability for both humans and search engines.
