My company

Search engines and AI assistants do their best to work out who is behind a website. The more clearly you tell them, the better they can show your business: the right kind of company, your real name, when you were founded, how to reach you and, depending on what you do, your cuisine, your return policy or how to donate.

The My company page under Settings is where you tell them. You answer questions in plain language and SitePack turns your answers into information that search engines read on every page of your website. Visitors do not see this page; it works behind the scenes.

Your type of organisation

Everything starts with the question What best describes your organisation? You already answered it when you created your website, so it is filled in from the start. You can change it at any time.

The types are grouped, for example:

  • Companies and services: a company, a freelancer, an accountancy firm, a real estate agent
  • Online: a webshop, an online business, a software or SaaS company
  • Local businesses: a hair salon, a garage, a plumber, a hotel or campsite
  • Food and drink: a restaurant, a café, a bakery, a brewery
  • Shops: a clothing shop, a bike shop, a florist
  • Health and care: a dental practice, physiotherapy, a vet
  • Non-profit: a charity, a foundation, an association
  • Education and Sports, culture and government

The type you pick decides which questions the page asks. A restaurant is asked about its cuisine and reservations, a charity about its tax status and donation page, a webshop about returns and a software company about its product. Questions that do not apply to you are simply not shown.

The questions

Every organisation gets these sections:

  • About your company: your official name (as registered with the Chamber of Commerce), a name you are also known by, your slogan, a short description of what you do, what you are experts in and which regions or countries you serve.
  • History and team: the year you were founded (and the exact date if you know it), where it all started, roughly how many people work there, and who founded it. Adding a link to a founder's LinkedIn profile or personal website helps search engines connect your company to the people behind it.
  • Registration: your Chamber of Commerce number and VAT number.
  • Contact: a general email address and phone number, and the email address and phone number of your customer service.
  • Network and recognition: a parent company, trade associations or quality marks you are a member of, awards you have won, and other places people can find you, such as your Google Business Profile, a Wikipedia page or a review site.

Depending on your type you also see:

  • Visiting (shops, restaurants, salons, practices and other places customers visit): your price level, from € to €€€€. Your address and opening hours come from your Locations.
  • Food and drink: the cuisine you serve, whether guests can make a reservation, and a link to your menu.
  • Returns (shops and webshops): whether customers can return products, within how many days, and who pays for the return.
  • Donations (non-profits): your tax status, such as ANBI, and the page where people can donate.
  • Your software (software and SaaS companies): the name of your product, what kind of software it is, where it runs, whether there is a free plan or free trial, the starting price per month and a link to your pricing page.
  • Sport (sports organisations and teams): which sport you play.

What SitePack fills in for you

Some details are never asked, because your website already knows them:

  • Languages: customers can reach you in your website's language, in English and in every translation you have added. Add a translation and it is included automatically.
  • Payment methods: the payment methods switched on in your online store are passed on as the ways customers can pay. Switch a method on or off there and this follows.

Filling in your company profile

  1. Go to Settings → My company in your Admin Portal.
  2. Check that the type of organisation fits. Change it if it does not; the questions below adjust straight away.
  3. Answer as many questions as you like. The bar at the top shows how complete your profile is.
  4. Click Save Settings.

Only what you fill in is used. Empty fields are left out completely, so you never tell search engines something you did not mean to.

Tip: Connected Claude or another AI assistant? Ask it to fill in your company profile, for example from your About page. It can read and update every field on this page. Assistants connected before this feature need to reconnect once to get permission.

Tip: Your social media profiles are not part of this page. You add them under Social media, and SitePack combines them with the links you enter here.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to answer every question?

No. Every question is optional. Each answer helps, but an empty field is simply skipped. Start with the type of organisation, your official name, your founding year and a short description; those make the biggest difference.

Will visitors see this information?

Not as a page of its own. The information is added to every page of your website in a form that search engines and AI assistants read. Some of it may show up in search results, for example your price level, cuisine or return policy.

When do search engines pick up my changes?

Your website uses the new information within about an hour of saving. When search engines see it depends on how often they visit your website, which can take a few days to a few weeks.

Why does a "no" count as an answer?

Questions like "Can guests make a reservation?" have three states: yes, no, or not answered. Clicking the selected answer again clears it. Only an answered question is passed on, so an untouched question is never read as a "no".

I picked the wrong type when creating my website. Can I change it?

Yes. Choose another type at the top of the My company page and save. The questions on the page change with it, and your earlier answers that still apply are kept.

Where do my address and opening hours go?

Those live under Locations, so you only have to keep them up to date in one place. The My company page tells you whether you have already added a location.
