Managing a Site

Every website your organisation manages has its own site details page in the Partner Dashboard. From there you can review the key facts about the site and jump straight into working on it, without needing separate credentials for each client.

Opening a site's details page

In the Sites section, find the site you want to work with and open it to reach its site details page. This page brings together everything you need to know about that specific client site.

Viewing site details

The site details page shows the core information for the site, including:

  • Site name and description, as set when the site was created.
  • Site type (website or online store) and its status.
  • Primary domain: The main address visitors use to reach the site. This is the domain the website is served on and is shown prominently on the details page so you always know where the live site lives.

The Actions menu

The Actions menu on the site details page gives you the tools to view and work on the client's site directly:

  • View website: Opens the live, published website on its primary domain, exactly as visitors see it.
  • View staging: Opens the site's staging version, so you can review changes in a safe, non-public environment before they go live.
  • Login as user: Signs you in to the client's own site admin as the site owner (impersonation), so you can help them directly. See Logging in as the user below.

Logging in as the user

Login as user lets you step into the site owner's shoes. When you choose it, you are signed in to the customer's site admin as if you were them, so you can configure settings, manage content, or troubleshoot an issue on their behalf. This is the same admin the customer uses, so what you see and change is exactly what they would.

Exiting impersonation

When you're finished helping the customer, exit impersonation to return to your Partner Dashboard. Leaving the impersonated session drops the customer's identity and brings you back to your own partner account, where you can move on to another site. Always exit impersonation once you're done so you don't accidentally keep working inside the customer's admin.

For guidance on what to do once you're inside the customer's admin, see Managing Content for a Customer.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find a client site's primary domain?

Open the site's details page from the Sites section. The primary domain, the main address the live site is served on, is shown on that page.

What's the difference between "View website" and "View staging"?

View website opens the live, published site on its primary domain as visitors see it. View staging opens the site's staging version, where you can preview changes before they're published.

What does "Login as user" do?

It signs you in to the client's own site admin as the site owner (impersonation), so you can help them directly using the exact admin they use. Any changes you make apply to their live account.

How do I stop impersonating a customer?

Exit impersonation from within the customer's admin. This ends the impersonated session and returns you to your Partner Dashboard and your own partner account.

Can I manage a client's content without asking them for their password?

Yes. Use Login as user on the site details page to enter their admin directly. You never need the customer's credentials, and you exit impersonation to return to your partner account when you're done.
